Senior Developer/Architect Position

Datatrac Corporation has a product suite for shippers and carriers supporting the full order/pickup/delivery lifecycle with interfaces ranging from legacy terminal UIs to modern highly interactive web UIs to mobile device applications.  The application serves as an interface for our customers and as the primary interface for our customer’s customers.

The position is for development and requires strong architecture/design/programming skills. We have a number of supported platforms with the backends running on Unix systems (Linux mainly but also some AIX and SCO)  The front end applications range from HTML/CSS/JavaScript/JSON to Java and C# in browsers and Java Phones/Android handhelds/Windows CE.  The Web servers run Apache/TurboGears/Mako/SQLAlchemy application running on Linux/Oracle and soon NoSQL (Mongo most likely).

We are looking for a talented self-starter to help continue to build this highly functional business application in an exciting environment with opportunities to work with state of the art open tools.  A successful candidate will be able to participate in requirement discussions, propose solutions that meet those requirements, design detailed solutions within the existing architecture, develop parts of that design, document the deployment requirements, and participate in resolving reported defects.

Required to have:

  1. 8+ years of development experience
  2. Strong coding skills in multiple languages
  3. Superior verbal and written communication skills
  4. Strong design skills
  5. Strong problem solving skills in a complex networked application
  6. Strong Linux / Unix experience (including strong at the command line)
  7. Experience integrating with existing legacy applications and ISAM data stores
  8. Team attitude and a desire to develop 1st class application
  9. Strong attention to quality and delivery timeliness
  10. Willingness/desire to learn new technologies that can benefit our customers
